Incoming Bears:
Due to FHSAA Regulations, you are not able to start participating in training sessions until June of 2014. Participation in Summer Sessions is highly encouraged as it builds skills, camaraderie, and experience. Team selections, where a select number of
individuals are invited to join teams, will occur in August—prior to the start of school.
In order to participate in any volleyball activities, student-athletes need to first:
*Be enrolled at PRHS for the 2014-2015 school year
*Have all athletic paperwork turned into the PRHS Activities Office (current physical, consent forms, copy of birth certificate, proof of insurance, etc.)
We want you to know what you are getting yourself into prior to the start of season; we expected invested student-athletes. Being a member of the PRHS Volleyball Program requires a tremendous time commitment on the part of each participant. During season, each team members attend daily practices and/or games. Practices range from 2 to 3 hours a day, and practice times vary due to gym availability and coaches’ schedules. Game days require even more hours. Each team (JV as well as Varsity) has various duties at home events (line judge, scorekeeping, gym set-up and breakdown) and are expected to stay through the evening of games for the different teams (JV and Varsity). Away games require travel by school bus; as much as possible, both teams travel together. Majority of games and practices occur on weekdays, yet weekends are included periodically. In addition to practices and games, bonding activities such as team lunches and dinners as well as special events such as FGCU Volleyball games and Breast Cancer Awareness volunteer activities occur regularly and are
mandatory.
While the commitment is great, so is the experience. The PRHS Volleyball Program is a ton of hard work coupled with immensely enjoyable times. We hope you consider becoming a Bear Volleyball Player, and we wish you well as you
start your high school career!
